Upper Sherando Lake is a fisherman's haven that does not allow swimming. The Lower Lake is ideal for a mixture of swimming, boating and fishing. Fishing licenses are required to fish on either lake. Many hiking opportunities abound, including the Blue Loop Trail, the Lakeside Trail and the Torry Ridge Trail that heads to Bald Knob. Weekend campfire programs are held at the amphitheater Memorial Day through Labor Day. Other events include a kid's fishing day in May and Smokey Bear's Birthday Celebration in August.
The Bath House to Lakeside Trail is a 0.12 km connector path in Sherando Lake Recreation Area, Virginia, with an elevation of 570.2 meters. This accessible trail links the bath house facilities to both Upper and Lower Sherando Lakes, offering access to prime fishing spots and recreational areas while providing scenic lake views.
