The
Bethune Schooner is an unidentified early American sailing ship built around
the 1830s that probably transported brick and lumber products to Milton and
Bagdad during the 19th century. Although the vessel’s name is not known, it
is listed on the National Register of Historic Places as a significant part
of Blackwater River heritage. The University of West Florida's Maritime
Archaeology Field School often uses this site to teach undergraduate and
graduate students the basics of underwater archaeology.
