Originally acquired in 1963 as a park, Meadowcreek has since evolved into a set of 73 community garden plots where residents can rent space to grow flowers and vegetables. The remainder of the 20 acre park has been left undeveloped. The gardens are located off Morton Drive near the intersection of Emmet Street and U.S. 250 Bypass behind the English Inn. Meadow Creek meanders through the woods along the entire southeastern portion of the park. The Rivanna Trail system runs through this park.
The Meadow Creek Walkway Trail is a 1.83-kilometer hiking path in Charlottesville, Virginia, winding through 20 acres of undeveloped parkland alongside Meadow Creek. This peaceful trail features wooded scenery, minimal elevation gain (115 meters), and connections to the broader Rivanna Trail system, offering hikers a serene escape with views of community gardens and natural creek habitats. The trail provides an easy, accessible hiking experience perfect for nature lovers seeking a quiet urban retreat near the US 250 Bypass area.
