<p>Built as the Virginia Lee in 1928 in Quincy, Massachusetts, the ship served convoy duty and hauled war materials in World War II, then became a ferry between Boston, Plymouth, and Provincetown. Damaged in a storm off Cape Hatteras, it was later rebuilt to carry 70 cars and 1,200 passengers, disabled by a 1964 fire, and abandoned at Mallows Bay around 1973.</p><p><a href="https://sanctuaries.noaa.gov/mallows-potomac/">NOAA Mallows Bay</a></p>
