The Blackwater Maritime Heritage Trail project has been years in the making and outdoorsmen from Pensacola and abound may soon be able to experience it.
In order to preserve the historic Blackwater River for future
generations, conservationists are acting now to record the history of
the river, which can be traced back hundreds of years.
On Thursday, the nonprofit Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership Inc.
will be part of a boating expedition that will highlight heritage
tourism while covering much of the river that’s known for its tannic
water and sandy bottom.
Founded in 2007, the Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership, Inc. is a 501(c)3 nonprofit corporation whose express purpose is to serve “as a catalyst for neighborhood revitalization throughout the village of Bagdad, Florida." The Bagdad Waterfronts Florida Partnership is a collaborative effort of
Bagdad residents and local government representatives working together to promote the Public Access to the Waterfront, Environmental Resource Protection, Cultural Resource Protection, Hazard Mitigation and Economic Revitalization.
