How Terrain360 handles the limited data we collect when you visit — and the rights you have over it.
Terrain360 LLC (“Terrain360”, “we”) is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect when you visit terrain360.com, how we use and protect it, and the rights you have over it — wherever you're visiting from.
We don't collect identifying data — name, email, or phone — unless you give it to us directly, such as when you contact us. The data we do collect is:
Separately from website analytics, our core work is photographing trails, rivers and public lands. Capture happens from public rights-of-way and publicly accessible routes, or with the permission of the land manager, and is aimed at the corridor itself — the trail surface, the waterway, the conditions and the surrounding landscape.
Because these are public places, people, vehicles and other identifying details can appear incidentally in the frame. We don't seek them out, we don't attempt to identify anyone, and we don't use the imagery to track individuals or link them to any other data we hold.
If you appear in a Terrain360 scene — or your vehicle, home frontage or another identifying detail does — you can ask us to blur or remove it. Send us the scene link or a description of the location and we'll deal with it; we don't require you to explain why, and there's no charge.
Terrain360 offers an app for ChatGPT and a connector for Claude. When you use it, the AI service sends our server the request it builds from your conversation: a place or route name to search, the ID of a place, or which scene to show. We use it only to return matching places and imagery. We do not receive your name, email, account details or the rest of your conversation, we do not ask for your location, and we do not store your requests.
Our servers keep standard technical logs for 30 days for security and troubleshooting, then delete them. For searches these record the AI service's server address, not yours. When the 360° viewer opens inside the chat, your device loads the imagery directly from terrain360.com and our image delivery network (Amazon CloudFront), the map from Mapbox and fonts from Google Fonts, so those requests carry your IP address and browser type like any visit to our site. We count viewer use with our own first-party statistics; the in-chat viewer does not load Google Analytics or any advertising tracker.
We do not sell or share this information. You can stop using the app at any time by disconnecting it in ChatGPT or Claude. OpenAI's and Anthropic's handling of your conversations is covered by their own privacy policies. Questions or deletion requests: ryan@terrain360.com.
We only use your data where the law allows — to provide and improve the site, keep it secure, understand how it's used, and meet legal obligations. Anonymized aggregated data may be used for analytics and improving our services without identifying you.

We protect your data with encryption, access controls, and regular security reviews. No method of internet transmission is perfectly secure, so we can't guarantee absolute security. We keep personal data only as long as needed for the purposes above or to meet legal requirements; anonymized data may be kept indefinitely.
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your data, or to object to or withdraw consent for its processing. To exercise any of these, contact us below — we may need to verify your identity first.
We use cookies to run the site, understand usage, and improve it; you can manage them in your browser settings. The site may link to third-party sites we don't control — this policy doesn't cover them, so review their policies before sharing data.
Our servers are in the United States. If you visit from elsewhere, your data is processed here, with appropriate safeguards in place under applicable data-protection laws.
We may update this policy to reflect changes in our practices or the law. Updates are posted here, and significant changes will be flagged prominently.
